One of my favourite things to do at the weekend is to have a night in watching feel good movies. I’m an absolute sucker for a good rom-com and absolutely love anything that will make me laugh. I love the classic feel good, chic flicks as much as the next person. Mean Girls, Bridget Jones and Legally Blonde are all up there as my favourites, but there’s some new ones taking over. I’m sure many of you will have seen these films but these are my current top 5 go to chick flicks.
How to Be Single 2016
There’s a right way to be single, a wrong way to be single, and then…there’s Alice. And Robin. Lucy. Meg. Tom. David. New York City is full of lonely hearts seeking the right match, be it a love connection, a hook-up, or something in the middle. And somewhere between the teasing texts and one-night stands, what these unmarrieds all have in common is the need to learn how to be single in a world filled with ever-evolving definitions of love. Sleeping around in the city that never sleeps was never so much fun.
This is honestly one of my favourite films! It’s such a feel good film and I honestly laugh so much watching this. Rebel Wilson is in it so can you blame me? It’s such a good film and makes you feel all powerful and stuff. GIRL POWER right?
Bad Moms 2016
Amy has a seemingly perfect life – a great marriage, over-achieving kids, a beautiful home and a career. However, she’s overworked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she’s about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities – going on a wild, un-mom-like binge of long overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence – putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.
AHH I seen this advertised in the cinema for ages at the end of last year and never got around to going to see it. I watched this for the first time on a Friday night alone and oh my goodness, I couldn’t stop laughing. It is absolutely hilarious. I feel like it would be ever more appreciated by all the mummys out there! Y’all can probably relate very well!
Sisters Kate and Maura Ellis are summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house, much to their dismay. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high-school-style party for their classmates, which turns into the cathartic rager that a bunch a ground-down adults really need.
Absolutely fantastic. SO SO funny. This film is great and I feel like this would be in in a couple of years time.
Pitch Perfect 2012
The Barden Bellas are a collegiate, all-girls a cappella singing group thriving on female pop songs and their perfect looks. After a disastrous failing at last year’s finals, they are forced to regroup. Among the new recruits is freshman Beca, an independent, aspiring DJ with no interest in the college life. But after she meets Jesse, from the rival all-male a cappella group, Beca has a new outlook and takes it upon herself to help the Bellas find their new look and sound and get back into the competition.
Pitch Perfect is one of my all time favourite films. Like ever. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and it’s just SO good. I have re-watched this film countless times and ALWAYS have it on in the background. The second film is just as good and the soundtrack to that too is UNREAL.
On the night of one of their old high school friend’s wedding three irresponsible and capricious bridesmaids reunite for one last bachelorette bacchanal in the Big Apple. They unintentionally create a mess of their best friend Becky’s wedding dress, before she marries her sweetheart Dale. They attempt to repair the situation by spending the evening before and morning of the wedding desperate to get the dress to Becky on time before the wedding starts, whilst discovering themselves and what they truly want from their lives along the way.
I stumbled upon this film accidentally on Netflix one night whilst having a girls night. We honestly didn’t expect much from it at all but it was surprisingly great! It is honestly hilarious and I feel like this would happen to me if I was to get married.
