It’s the little things in life

I feel like we spend a lot of our time nagging and complaining about things. I am extremely guilty of this. We focus to much on the negative stuff that goes on and not enough on the positive. If somebody does something for us, we do our best to show them appreciation. But sometimes I think we need to remember the little things in life, the small things that may not change our lives, but do in fact make us happy. The things that make our lives a little brighter.

When someone else cooks for you

Sometimes after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do when I get home is make my dinner. I absolutely love when someone else cooks for you. I always enjoy the meal so much more.

When it is sunny enough to hang your washing outside

Honestly, there is nothing better than the smell of freshly washed laundry that has been dried by the sun on the washing line. I absolutely love it.

The feeling of freshly shaven legs against clean bed sheets

I LOVE having a pamper night and shaving my legs, moisturising and getting into a freshly made bed. SO SOFT.

When the first day of a new month starts on a Monday

I told you it’s the little things…I love when this happens because it feels like I can start everything fresh. And it helps with actually knowing what date it is.

A perfect cup of tea or coffee

I absolutely love a good cuppa tea or coffee. Especially when you’re busy and sit down to relax and make a tea or coffee and just expect it to be average and then BAMMM. It’s a reallllly good one.

When you find a really comfy position as soon as you get into bed

I often struggle to fall asleep for a while when I’ve gone to bed. But the past week I have been so comfy that I’ve managed to fall asleep straight away.

Instantly falling in love with a book

See when you are only like 15 pages into a book and you just know it’s gonna be a good one? There is no better feeling.

When you come across a REALLLY good meme

What is better than a good laugh? I love these Theresa May ones so much right now.

When it’s pouring with rain outside and you don’t need to leave the house

9 times out of 10, I have to leave the house when it’s absolutely pouring with rain but on the chance that I can stay indoors and be cosy in pj’s when it’s raining, I love it!

When someone shares good news

I absolutely love it when I see that someone has been successful or something good has happened to them. Even more so when it is a friend or family member.

So there’s 10 little things in life that make me happy. What makes you happy?

Much love,

Embrace yourself

I have seen so much negativity on social media recently surrounding self esteem and self worth. I’ll put my hands up and confess, I too, used to be extremely guilty of this. A big cause of this is how we think other people perceive us. The thing is, people are not ‘full of themselves’ if they like the way they look or think that they are good at something. Why do we care so much about what others think of us?

Times can be tough, I know. But if you’re having a good day, embrace yourself. No one else on this whole planet is like you. You are the only version of yourself so I think you should celebrate that. You have a lot to offer people and the world so throw yourself at things. Don’t let anyone stop you. If anyone doubts your worth, rid yourself of them. You do not need toxic people in your life.

Everyday I have to remind at least one person that they are great. I completely understand that you can have down days and feel low about everything, especially your self worth. But I promise, they will pass. It’s equally okay to have high confidence days, no seriously, I really encourage that and recommend it actually. Because why not? Nobody else is gonna do it for you.

You are amazing and do not let anyone tell you otherwise.  You are the only version of you, you are unique and special. Try and stop comparing yourself to others because you are you. You will never be that other person. Embrace yourself, all your own traits and qualities. And your flaws, embrace them too. So what if you’re impatient? So what if you ate a whole share bar of chocolate when you’re meant to be dieting?  Life is honestly way too short to spend time hating yourself.

You do you and ALWAYS be yourself. You’re incredible and you’ve got this.

Much love,

Blogmas Day 23 – Reflection of 2016

This year has honestly been the strangest year. I have had both the worst and best year ever. The first half of the year was utter BALLS but the second half was absolutely ACE.

I have grown so so much this year and I am honestly so happy with who I am as a person.

At the beginning of the year, I was weak. I let people walk all over me and to be honest, I thought being treated like shit was normal. I’d started to accept being treated so badly and it extremely lowered my self esteem. I let people take advantage of me on a daily basis and never stood up for myself at all. How times change. That is definitely not who I am now.  Unfortunately, I went through some pretty tough times to figure that out and my mental health suffered tremendously. I got my lowest ever point in April of this year and I refuse to ever go back to that place. But from there, things could only get better.
I GRADUATED. I actually did it. I got myself a cheeky lil 2:1 in BSc (Hons) Management. Four years of hard work and I had finally done. There were so many times I thought I’d never get to the end but I did! And now I’m a graduate!

I landed myself a fantastic full time job which I am absolutely loving! I can’t believe I managed to get myself a full time job in a field of work related to my degree only 1 month after graduating. Biggest achievement ever.

I started blogging again! I thought starting a brand new blog would be better than continuing writing on my one that was 3 years old – honestly it’s so cringe and does not represent me as a person at all. I’m so glad I started my new blog and I am completely overwhelmed at how well is doing. I mean, I only ever expected Karina to read my posts but now each post gets a good amount of views! I never even planned on posting often but I upload twice a week and people actually read what I have to say! YAY. This was my first header for my new blog and it has already changed so much since.

Becoming part of the online mental health community has done absolutely wonders for me and my health. I absolutely love everybody in the community and together we are sharing our stories to help stamp out the stigma. We’ll be taking over the world next I tell ya. Big shout out to Hannah Rainey who created #talkMH and allowed for the greatest community to be formed. You’re a star honey and should be very proud of yourself!

I can run! Never ever ever would I have thought that I could run for 5 minutes let alone 5km. Honestly, treadmills have always given me the absolute fear so the fact that I can run fills me with so much pride!

I am honestly 1000x happier than I was at the beginning of the year and I am SOOO grateful for the friends and family who stuck by me through everything. And to the incredible people I’ve met on my journal.

Here’s to 2017!

Much love,

Blogmas Day 21 – 2016 through the lens

2016 has been an absolute whirlwind of a year filled with so many emotions. This post is simple but for me it’s important to look back at the memories and people around me who made me smile. There is no better feeling than being truly happy and these moments have made my year!

Lets hope 2017 gives me even more smiles!

4 sleeps!

Much love,

Blogmas Day 10 – Handmade Christmas Cards

I honestly love receiving cards so much! Sometimes I really prefer them over presents. When people spend the time writing a message inside a card that is personally for you, that just gets me.

I’m quite the creative kind when I have time, so decided that this year I would make my own Christmas cards. Especially since the list of people in my life is a lot smaller, I have a lot more desire to share the love with the people I’m thankful for. It’s not like primary school where you send a card to everyone in the class.

I had a scroll through Pinterest and I found a few ideas that I loved, but since I was keeping to a budget, I decided to stick with one kind.

All I needed to make these cards was;

  • A4 Card and Envelopes – The Works // £2
  • Buttons – The Works // £0.99
  • Glue Dots – Amazon // £1.99
  • Ruler
  • Pen

These cards were so easy to make. They are quite simple and I understand that some people would prefer to make more luxurious cards but I still think mine turned out pretty cute! So here’s a quick 5 step guide on how I made them:

Step 1 – Fold your card in half and choose which side you want the fold at (I chose the fold to be at the top as I wanted my baubles to hang.)

Step 2 – Place your buttons where you would like the baubles to be hanging so you have an idea where to place your glue dots.Put your glue dots in place and stick on the buttons. You can use glue  if you prefer, I opted for glue dots to prevent any stickiness around the card.                                                                  15224760_10157868363825512_1942698948_o

Step 4 –  Using a ruler, draw straight lines to the top of the card to create the hanging bauble effect. I drew some little bows on top of the buttons to make them look more like baubles.

Step 5 – I wrote Merry Christmas at the bottom of mine but you can obviously design it any way you want with any greeting you want.

And there you have it. My quick 5 step guide to making little Christmas cards that will put a smile on people’s faces.

Have you tried any Christmas crafts this year? If so, please share them with me!

Much love,
