Will I give up?

I’ve always put off joining a weight loss club of any sort cos I’ve always been determined to do it on my own. HAH. Doesn’t work for me. When one of my friends had been successfully losing weight after joining Slimming World, I was so tempted to start. But there was absolutely no chance in hell I was going to weekly group weigh ins so I decided I’d do it online. I’ve been absolutely loving it so far and it has added so much food to my diet that I wouldn’t have even touched before! I’m really enjoying cooking absolutely everything from scratch and it’s definitely a lifestyle and not a diet! It takes a lot of organisation but I’m determined this time!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not been easy. Sometimes I really just want some greasy food and to pig out but I’ve only slipped up a few times! I’ve struggled when it comes to eating out with friends etc so on days that I’ve done so, I just try and have a smaller meal for dinner if I’ve been out for lunch. I’m just not one of these people that can go out and order a salad when there’s so many things I’d rather have on the menu. Like, how can you say no to a mug of chilli and garlic bread? But that’s my weakness and I need to work on that. But baby steps. Will I give up trying to change things? Hopefully not this time.

I think when changing your lifestyle like this you need to have the correct mentality to do so which I have always struggled with. It’s bloody hard. Especially when you can’t see change and feel absolutely no different. I know it’s a long process and these things don’t happen over night and as Elliot keeps reminding me ‘it’s a marathon, not a sprint.’

For someone who has to have long term plans, I find it IMPOSSIBLE to see where I want to be with my body and relationship with food. I feel like I’ll never get there because to be honest, I’ve never been there before. And that can be scary but should also be exciting. Googling pictures of what you want your end goal to be DOES NOT WORK. I also am absolutely TERRIFIED of change so I’ve found changing my lifestyle pretty difficult. I’ve been changing little things at a time so hopefully these little changes will be here  to stay. This is why I am writing this post, because if I’ve shared it then I’ll have more motivation to keep going.

Weight loss aside, changing your attitude towards anything can be quite a struggle. For some people, it can be quite simple but for others like myself, it takes proper hard work and determination. In my next post, I’m going to share some tips on how I have changed my attitude, and not just towards my lifestyle.

Do you find changing your attitude difficult?

Much love,

It’s the little things in life

I feel like we spend a lot of our time nagging and complaining about things. I am extremely guilty of this. We focus to much on the negative stuff that goes on and not enough on the positive. If somebody does something for us, we do our best to show them appreciation. But sometimes I think we need to remember the little things in life, the small things that may not change our lives, but do in fact make us happy. The things that make our lives a little brighter.

When someone else cooks for you

Sometimes after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do when I get home is make my dinner. I absolutely love when someone else cooks for you. I always enjoy the meal so much more.

When it is sunny enough to hang your washing outside

Honestly, there is nothing better than the smell of freshly washed laundry that has been dried by the sun on the washing line. I absolutely love it.

The feeling of freshly shaven legs against clean bed sheets

I LOVE having a pamper night and shaving my legs, moisturising and getting into a freshly made bed. SO SOFT.

When the first day of a new month starts on a Monday

I told you it’s the little things…I love when this happens because it feels like I can start everything fresh. And it helps with actually knowing what date it is.

A perfect cup of tea or coffee

I absolutely love a good cuppa tea or coffee. Especially when you’re busy and sit down to relax and make a tea or coffee and just expect it to be average and then BAMMM. It’s a reallllly good one.

When you find a really comfy position as soon as you get into bed

I often struggle to fall asleep for a while when I’ve gone to bed. But the past week I have been so comfy that I’ve managed to fall asleep straight away.

Instantly falling in love with a book

See when you are only like 15 pages into a book and you just know it’s gonna be a good one? There is no better feeling.

When you come across a REALLLY good meme

What is better than a good laugh? I love these Theresa May ones so much right now.

When it’s pouring with rain outside and you don’t need to leave the house

9 times out of 10, I have to leave the house when it’s absolutely pouring with rain but on the chance that I can stay indoors and be cosy in pj’s when it’s raining, I love it!

When someone shares good news

I absolutely love it when I see that someone has been successful or something good has happened to them. Even more so when it is a friend or family member.

So there’s 10 little things in life that make me happy. What makes you happy?

Much love,

Louise Chatters : April

Hello my sweeeets. I have been MIA this month on the blog and social media and I have no idea what’s wrong with me. I have no inspiration and literally nothing to write about. So, I just haven’t. Not written a thing. But by the middle of the month, I started to work on my piece for Beautiful Minds and it made me want to write so much again!

First things first, (I’m the realist), this month has gone so so quickly. It was Easter, then  my birthday on the 17th and Michael’s on the 27th so yay to celebrations!

I had a great time celebrating Easter with a lovely meal out with Michael’s family and family friends. Lots of food and wine was consumed and it was great spending time with everybody.

I spent a lot of time with friends this month! I got to see Katie and we went for cake like we  used to always do! (Hi Katie, miss you.)

I went for some drinks with friends for my birthday and it was great getting different groups of people together.  I had so much fun! I got so many lovely gifts of people and I am so so grateful!

Far too much alcohol was consumed this month but it was a great month so that seems okay. I have definitely put on weight this month which sucks but tomorrow is a new day right?

I took a week off work to head home and visit my family and friends and it was lovely! I had such a relaxing week and got some much needed chill time and catch ups with my friend. I even managed to go out on two runs which I was very impressed with. I was on holiday after all.

Michael and I took a spontaneous trip to New Lanark and it was such a lovely town! I didn’t even know it existed!  New Lanark Visitor Centre is a former 18th century cotton spinning mill village located on the banks of the Falls of Clyde. It was so cool seeing original mill buildings and houses in the town.

Clearly, my mental health hasn’t been tremendous this month as I still feel pretty numb and empty. But I had two great therapy sessions this month which put a lot of my feelings over the past years into perspective. I’m starting to build a good relationship with my psychiatrist which is fabbby. I haven’t been as active on social media as I felt like I haven’t had anything to say!

The most exciting part of this month was that Michael and I booked our summer holiday to Italy! We are going to explore Milan, Florence, Bolognia and Lake Garda in June and I am so so excited. I have never visited Italy before so it will be such a great experience!

So that’s a lil catch up for me, what have you been up to this month?

Much love,

Embrace yourself

I have seen so much negativity on social media recently surrounding self esteem and self worth. I’ll put my hands up and confess, I too, used to be extremely guilty of this. A big cause of this is how we think other people perceive us. The thing is, people are not ‘full of themselves’ if they like the way they look or think that they are good at something. Why do we care so much about what others think of us?

Times can be tough, I know. But if you’re having a good day, embrace yourself. No one else on this whole planet is like you. You are the only version of yourself so I think you should celebrate that. You have a lot to offer people and the world so throw yourself at things. Don’t let anyone stop you. If anyone doubts your worth, rid yourself of them. You do not need toxic people in your life.

Everyday I have to remind at least one person that they are great. I completely understand that you can have down days and feel low about everything, especially your self worth. But I promise, they will pass. It’s equally okay to have high confidence days, no seriously, I really encourage that and recommend it actually. Because why not? Nobody else is gonna do it for you.

You are amazing and do not let anyone tell you otherwise.  You are the only version of you, you are unique and special. Try and stop comparing yourself to others because you are you. You will never be that other person. Embrace yourself, all your own traits and qualities. And your flaws, embrace them too. So what if you’re impatient? So what if you ate a whole share bar of chocolate when you’re meant to be dieting?  Life is honestly way too short to spend time hating yourself.

You do you and ALWAYS be yourself. You’re incredible and you’ve got this.

Much love,

Writers Block

2017? Crazy, I know. Where did the last year go?

I’m not going to lie, I have found it realllllly hard to get back into the swing of blogging and social media etc, etc. And this is how bad it is, I’ve actually named my post ‘writers block.’ I did tweet saying that I would be taking a break (just in case anyone actually noticed that I had fallen off the face of the Earth) but I had no idea just how difficult it would be to get back into the swing of things. I love blogging, I really do, and I write for myself but recently, I have had absolutely no inspiration or motivation to do so. Maybe Blogmas took it all out of me, who knows.

I feel as if I have absolutely nothing to write. I wrote down ideas for blog posts before I began Blogmas but I just have no motivation to write, and I didn’t want to start the New Year without a little catch up. AND new branding if you haven’t noticed! (Big up to Amy for her amazing creation!)

Apart from my lack of inspiration, I am SO excited for the next year of blogging and everything that’s thrown at Louise Chatters. I’m gonna push myself and fingers crossed, I can reach the goals I have set myself.

Since I began this blog in September, I’ve been rather committed to posting every Monday and Thursday and I have actually managed to stick to my schedule. Sometimes I would change what content I would be posting but having set days that I posted on, really helped me become organised with my blog. This year, I want to become even more organised and try and structure my scheduling more. I’m not saying I’ll stick to this but I’m definitely going to have a bash at it! I’ve been tempted to limit my blog to just one category, so it fits in to more of a niche, but then I realised I would’t really be writing for myself if I took that route. Because sometimes, I just like to babble and if I find something I love, whether that be a new product, book or recipe, I just want to write and share it with you.

So, every month, I’m going to try and include at least one post on each of the following;

  • Mental Health
  • Monthly Favourites
  • Monthly Update
  • Advice / How To post

These are the kind of post I enjoy writing and although I’ve never posted a monthly updates post, I’m hoping it’ll be able to help me reflect on the on-goings in my life (also, my Twitter followers seemed keen on this idea ;)) I’m not saying that any of these posts will benefit anyone other than myself but hopefully, by writing about the topics I love the most, someone will be able to relate.

Feel free to comment with your links so I can have a read of your latest posts!

Much love,

Blogmas Day 24 – Goals for 2017

As I explained yesterday, I thought I’d set myself two different types of goals ; ones for my blog and personal goals. My personal goals seem to be the same every year and yet, I never reach them.

Lose the chub

I say it every single year but I honestly need to do something about my weight. I made a big step this year and began running (and actually progressed.) So, I have started which is the hardest part. Now to stick to it. My goal for next year is to fit into a size 14 and confidently flaunt my curves.

Learn to drive

Anyone who personally knows me will know I am absolutely useless at learning to drive. I had 8 lessons when I was 17 and honestly, could not progress for the life of me. Now I’ve graduated, I really want that last bit of independence and be able to drive! I’m not saying that in 2017 I will pass my driving test (honestly, it could take a LONG time for me to pick up the skill) but I certainly want to be in the process of getting towards that stage. I’d honestly be so proud if I could confidently do the basics of driving by the end of the year.

Run 10km

Six months ago, if you had told me I would be setting myself this goal for the next year I would have laughed in your face and told you that there’s not a chance in hell of that happening. But I know, if I put in the hard work I will be able to do it! I managed to complete the Couch to 5k program in 9 weeks so I know I can do this.

Save dollllah

I am the absolute worst at saving money. Since graduating and getting a full time job, I just want to spend all the money I get. In 2017, I’m going to try SO SO hard to save more.

What are your goals for the next year?

1 sleep!

Much love,

Blogmas Day 8 : Knitwear

One of my favourite things about winter is definitely looking out all my knitwear. I absolutely adore a pom pom beanie if you can’t guess by this post. Each year, my collection grows! Scarves are also a must have in my winter wardrobe and I try to have a scarf in each colour that will go with any type of outfit. I thought I’d list some of my favourite knitwear finds this winter. (Aside from this list, I am absolutely loving some of the bobble hats from Primark this year!)

New Look // Khaki Pom Pom Hat // £9.99hat1

How cute is this hat with the double pom poms? I absolutely love it and I think the khaki colour is to die for! This is currently sitting in my New Look basket waiting to be ordered.

Jack Wills // Ariana Faux Fur Headband // £19.50

I’ve been looking for a head band for the past couple of winters but my head is honestly so big that it’s hard to find one that fits. I absolutely love them though and I think these headbands are so cute!

New Look // Pink Textured Scarf // £14.99

This scarf looks so so cosy and I love the texture of the knit! This is the sort of scarf that could go with so many outfits due to the pale pink/ oatmeal-y colour.

Superdry // Colour Block Beanie // £19.99

AHHH this is like my favourite beanie ever. It’s so cute and look at the fluffy wee pom pom! It looks so cosy and I absolutely love it.

Zara // Soft Textured Scarf // £19.99

Zara is my favourite place to get a really thick cosy scarf. I really love this checked one and am considering buying it although I will it hard to swap my tartan Zara one from last year for it. But it is super pretty so it might just be worth it! Definitely worth paying £19.99.

Misguided // Cream rainbow pom pom beanie // £10

I seen this on Misguided and could not resist putting this in my knitwear post. Look how pretty the pom pom is? It instantly reminded me of unicorns so I had to pop it in case any of you unicorn lovers out there hadn’t come across this hat.

Dorothy Perkins // Cream Neppy Check Scarf // £15

I think this scarf is another one that could compliment any outfit as the colours are pretty neutral. I love the little tint of blue in it too! And it does look super cosy.

Superdry // Almeta Slouch Beanie // £14.99

I used to be an absolute sucker for a slouch beanie! This one from Superdry looks really soft and not too thick a texture.

Accessorize // Geo Cable Scarf // £22

Who doesn’t love a little tint of mustard to brighten up an outfit? This scarf from Accessorize is beaut and looks extra thick and warm!

Have you got any knitwear favourites this year?

Much love,
